Navigating the Decision Space: Interactive Learning in Action
Static content can inform, but interactive scenarios and immersive activities transform. This section of my portfolio showcases my work in experiential design, where the goal shifts from passive consumption to active decision-making.
I specialize in building "safe-to-fail" environments that mirror the complexity of real-world challenges. By utilizing branching logic, immersive storytelling, and immediate feedback loops, I provide learners with the opportunity to navigate high-stakes situations—such as mental health crises and emergency dispatch—where the "right" choice often depends on subtle nuances.
In the samples below, you will see how I bridge the gap between theory and practice using tools like H5PLumi, Abacus AI, and Animaker to create path-based learning that respects the learner’s agency and emphasizes the impact of every choice.
Scenario 1: The Immediate Crisis
Focus: Managing high-stakes situations with immediate danger.
A short-form branching interaction built in Lumi H5P featuring Animaker-animated video segments. This module utilizes a "convergent branching" logic where multiple indirect responses lead to the same high-urgency dispatch outcome, reinforcing a specific protocol rule through immediate feedback loops.
This scenario isolates the "CONFIRM" phase of the 911-988 diversion protocol. It challenges learners to recognize that anything other than a clear "NO" constitutes a "YES" for imminent risk. The scenario tests the learner's ability to prioritize safety and initiate immediate law enforcement dispatch when weapons are present.
